Welcome! My name is Bas, I am a last-year student of the health and life sciences bachelor program at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. I currently am in the minor program about global health. What I like about global health is that there is still so much to achieve in middle-income countries compared to the country where I now live, the Netherlands. I love learning about what there is to achieve in different parts of the globe we live in with each other. I am excited to write this blog for you and everybody else who is going to visit it!
Magda:
Hello! My name is Magda Verkleij, I’m a medical student at the Leiden University. I recently finished my bachelor, but before starting a master, I wanted to broaden my view of healthcare. Since I am particularly interested in public health and preventive heath, I chose to take part in the minor Global Health at the VU. I am looking forward to share our stories about the double burden of disease in Central America with you!

Hey! I am Joost de Haan and I’m a biomedical science student at the VU. I’m currently in my fourth year and before I finish my bachelor I want to get into the zoomed out look of healthcare that global health provides instead of just being in a lab and doing research. As my interest lies in non-communicable diseases and the prevention of them, I am looking forward to teaching you guys more about them!

Hello everyone, my name is Jytte Janssen. Currently, I’m in the last year of my bachelor, Health and life Sciences at the VU. Within my bachelor I chose the major Clinical Sciences, because I’m interested in how developments in research eventually are applied in clinics. I have chosen the minor Global Health, because I wanted to broaden my perspective and gain knowledge on various health issues in different parts of the world.
